Metttani is the solo project of Amine Metani, founder of the Shouka label and the Tunisian collective Arabstazy. With diverse influences including big beat, death metal, breakcore and IDM, Metttani also draws upon appreciation for non-tempered traditions and animist rituals. Following the 2019 debut album Divīne, Tawātem (Totems in Arabic) reflects Metani’s longstanding respect for Tunisia’s pre-Islamic Stambeli practices, paying tribute to endangered rituals and music that resonate with his spirituality.
