Track 12

Koji Tano
"The Sawintologist"
previously unreleased
Recorded at In Tone Studio, Los Angeles, June 2004. Remixed, produced and mastered by Rick Frystak at In Tone, October 2007. All sounds were completely improvised live. The track was then remixed live, no automation or computers, in 2007.
Rick Potts (musical saw, hinge-neck electric guitar, Steiner-Parker synthesizer, Dr Sample, fake screaming rat, electronic bird caller, kalimba, saxxy, nose flute, crow call), Rick Frystak (electric bass, virtual mellotron), Chris Guttmacher (drums), Brian A Rosser (electronic musical saw, processing).
"SAWS is an ongoing improvisational concept dedicated to the use of the musical saw in a contemporary futurist setting, allowing for each members' dalliances to be front and centre in the musical direction. This track 'slipped through the cracks', and was oddly not included on the LP, Saws, during the democratic process we employed in dividing up the improvisations to then be 'produced' by each member individually. Only when Ron at Pooh-Bah Records asked me for any Saws material he could release, did I re-discover this take, which I promptly mixed on my trusty Tident analog desk. With the discovery of this and more extra material, a near-future SAWS digital-domain-only LP will be forthcoming." - Rick Frystak
