The duo Shohin Qurbon (Dushanbe) and Denis Sorokin (Saint Petersburg) was formed in early 2023, blending traditional Tajik sounds with experimental improvisation. At the core of their music lies falak, a unique Pamir musical tradition where performers direct their joys and sorrows not to the audience, but to the sky. Falak is a monodic genre usually performed by a solo musician accompanied by a dutar or rubab. Denis and Shohin improvise falak using unusual instrumentation – on electroacoustic guitar and doira. In 2023, the duo performed at Stihia (Bukhara) and Topot/Bahor (Tashkent) festivals. In 2024, they appeared at the Voices Festival (Berlin) and MOC Fest (Tashkent), where they were the sole representatives of Tajikistan. That same year, they released their album Tira-Tira on the Topot label.
