Track 4

"Serpentement I"

From the release Serpentement

The solitary project of Thomas Bonvalet initially focused on the nylon string guitar. Working with short, dynamic and abrupt forms, as L’ocelle Mare he limits himself exclusively to the acoustic possibilities of the instrument. The radical posture would often bring the music to an impasse. Bonvalet’s guitar thus became less and less identifiable. At the periphery it absorbed the sound of objects (metronome, tuning forks, etc) diverted from their common usage to reveal new fleeting forms.

Born in October 1977, Bonvalet lives in Alpedrete, Spain. Between 1998–2004 he played guitar in the band Cheval De Frise. He performed his first solo show under the name of L’ocelle Mare in September 2005. He has since released three solo albums, the most recent being Serpentement (2012).
