Thoom rejects the polish of 2010s pop culture and its slavish devotion to selfies, Auto-Tune and artificial perfection. Her sound is a volatile hybrid of tender guitar ballads and searing electronic noise, in turns heavenly, grungy and dissonant, never subscribing to the pressure to maximalise. Instead, she fuses edgy, electronic dissonance with minimal, age-old arrangements like a guitar and a voice, giving her listeners permission to connect with their own past, to withdraw into themselves and dream of love again.
