The Wire Salon: Revenant Forms: The Meaning of Hauntology

April 2010

Hear the panel discussion at the first Wire Salon

This recording was made during the panel discussion at the first Wire Salon, which was held on 1 April 2010 at London's Cafe Oto. The panel was made up of Mark Fisher, Adam Harper, Joseph Stannard and moderator Tony Herrington, and debated how the term hauntology has entered music criticism as a means of understanding the uncanny quality of so much contemporary audio, from spektral disco to dubstep, Hypnagogic pop and beyond.

The night also featured screenings of three short films by Julian House (Ghost Box, The Focus Group), a live audio-visual set by Moon Wiring Club and eldritch vinyl interludes courtesy of Mordant Music.

Thanks to Richard Thomas at Resonance 104.4FM for the recording.

The second Wire Salon, Sonic Warfare: The Politics of Frequency, takes place at Cafe Oto on 6 May.
