Halford Witchcock’s music and visual project Unwashed pulls its genre tropes, visual cues and iconography from murder ballads, outlaw country, black metal and early rock ’n’ roll. Peeling away the mythologies that variously distinguish, bind or set apart those genres, he folds together a unique mix of lo-fi soundtrack music and disintegrating rockabilly black metal.
