Previously one half of the electronic act Simian Mobile Disco born out of 2000s rock group Simian, James Ellis Ford is also known as a producer, with credits for Depeche Mode, Blur, Gorillaz, Pet Shop Boys and more. For his debut solo album The Hum he not only drew upon his multi-instrumental skills but assumed vocal duties, adding Brian Eno and Robert Wyatt art-pop inflection to music taking cues from Canterbury prog, Palestinian funk, krautrock and hiphop.
