An audio introduction to Pod Blotz

December 2019

California based artist and musician Suzy Poling shares a playlist of tracks from her back catalogue

Los Angeles resident Suzy Poling has been recording electronic music as Pod Blotz for 20 years. She says her projects explore “posthumanist concepts, cathartic gestures, and otherworldly sound sources”. Following her interview with Louis Pattison in The Wire 431, Poling has put together a Wire playlist of her past and present productions, which serves as an audio timeline of her output.

“This playlist is a reflection of the past into a future era that is and will be continuously evolving,” explains Poling over email. “The project began as a drone and tape manipulation project that has slowly shifted into something more structured with focused rhythmic elements and vocal work at times. The underlying threads that have existed throughout the years [are] a consideration of drone and a feeling that I can't find words for exactly.”
