“There are three unreleased tracks included here from three different projects,” says UK multi-instrumentalist Wayne Adams, explaining this freshly compiled playlist which spans his expansive constellation of solo and collaborative aliases. “Scraper is my heavier breakcore stuff, Johnny Broke is more of an acidy affair, and the Petbrick track is an outtake from our up and coming new album. The Scraper and Johnny Broke tracks are quite close sonically and could probably be interchanged between each project, so I may end up using one or the other for the other project depending on how the releases take shape!”
Adams’s back catalogue includes many various projects and styles and grows at a rapid rate (the artist totalled eight releases last year). In his interview with Holly Dicker in The Wire 451 Adams explains how his Big Lad project (which sees drummer Henri Grimes strapped in to Adams’s self-designed drum trigger programme and Adams on electronics) unites many of his ideas and interests together: “[Big Lad] has broken down all of the boundaries of everything I’ve ever done,” he declares. “It’s the marriage of what I love with music: it’s energetic. In essence it’s simple. It’s dancing.” Read The Wire's interview with Wayne Adams in full inside The Wire 451. Subscribers can also access the issue digitally via our online archive.
