“A soaring above, and driving towards imminent doom or total collapse” is how Julia Reidy describes her fourth solo record brace, brace. The album features treated vocals, synths and field recordings, as well as the 12 string acoustic guitar playing Reidy’s noted for. On tour, her music is accompanied by the panoramic projections of artist Suze Whaites, which Reidy hopes creates an environment that “pushes and pulls” in a “creeping trance”.
The Australian musician, who is also a member of the Berlin based collective Splitter Orchester, has previously released her compositions for guitar via Room40 sublabel A Guide To Saints and US imprint Feeding Tube.
brace, brace is available to preorder from Slip now. “One Way Mirror” is available as a download to those who purchase the LP. Reidy plays with Eliza McCarthy, Ashley Paul, and more at Cafe Oto, 11 March.
