A new compilation released by Buh Records presents various DIY techno groups and projects that emerged in Lima in the mid-1980s
| Disidentes “Martillo” (1988) | 0:04:57 |
| Paisaje Electrónico “X2” (1986) | 0:02:13 |
| T De Cobre “No Nunca” (1989) | 0:04:47 |
| Meine Katze Und Ich “La Gran Masa” (1985) | 0:04:17 |
“Many of the recordings included here are extracted from demos with limited circulation, practically impossible to find,” says Luis Alvarado of Lima based label Buh. “Other tracks are unpublished pieces which come from the private archives of the artists themselves.” The compilation – which is limited to 300 vinyl copies and includes accompanying written and visual information about the otherwise mostly unknown acts – features electronic punk tracks recorded between 1985–91.
Here Alvarado premieres the first four tracks from the LP, including recordings by Disidentes and T de Cobre. “[They] brought extreme sounds to local electronics,” reveals Alvarado, “viscerality, mechanical rhythms and the use of Casiotones or synthesizers, which resulted in an atypical sound that, in turn, portrayed a critical time in Peru, and which has made them an unavoidable reference for any historical account of techno and industrial music in Latin America.”
Síntomas De Techno: Underground Electronic Waves From Peru (1985–1991) is released on 3 June by Buh.
