Kevin Martin aka The Bug shares two tracks from his label's next record

October 2018

Japanese dub punks G36’s forthcoming EP to be released by his Pressure imprint

Kevin Martin launched his Pressure imprint in early 2018 with a collaborative record featuring himself and producer Burial. The label followed it with music from MC Miss Red and, most recently, Jamaican dub poet Nazamba, who riffs off the track “Vex Riddim” on his 12" debut. The Nagasaki based group G36 will release Floor Weapons Vol 1 on 23 November and it's now available to pre-order.

"G36 is the sound of pure dread to my ears,” remarks Kevin Martin over email. “Avoiding reggae cliches and tired formulas, this elusive crew of Japanese agit-producers, bring serious tension and friction to the dance. It’s a no brainer for me to release these dancehall destroyers, as I can hear a future shock in this new strain of cybernetic dub. To me, this relentless EP sounds like stripped back, militantly minimal Jah Shaka riddims, filtered though ten tons of distortion and white noise. Simultaneously worshipping reggae steppas and their beloved studio machinery, I'm loving the pounding floor assaults masterminded by this new Nagasaki militia."

G36 themselves say: "We do not engage with Western communication systems or social networks, our music speaks for us."
