Sun Araw and M Geddes Gengras's label Duppy Gun Productions have released a new EP of “outer-orbit dancehall”
Duppy Gun Productions was founded in 2011 in Portmore, Jamaica by Los Angeles musicians Sun Araw aka Cameron Stallones and frequent collaborator M Geddes Gengras. Describing themselves as “outer-orbit dancehall”, the label started when the pair went to the island to record with The Congos, leading to a collaboration with the local musicians and the first release, a 12” called Multiply/Earth featuring vocals by Dayone (Carlton Sappleton) and Early One (Alan Pitt).
FRESH CLIPP'D is an compilation of singles and remixes which serve as a taster EP for forthcoming releases due out in 2016. The record features artists Sikka Rymes, Arafat Brigande and I Jahbar, and producers Genesis Hull, DJ Talus Glider and Garcia. It also features three remixes by Ahnnu, Ras G and Siete Catorce.
Here you can listen to “Nuff Gal” by I Jahbar featuring G Sudden, and a remix by Siete Catorce. Duppy Gun will be performing at Bologna's Live Arts Week which takes place from 19–23 April. The performance will be held at the screening of Negus by Invernomuto (the collaborative duo Simone Bertuzzi & Simone Trabucchi), a film which Duppy Gun provided the soundtrack for.
