Listen: Golden Teacher tracks

May 2014

Listen to two tracks by Glasgow's Golden Teacher, featured in The Wire 364

Glasgow party outfit Golden Teacher is made up of singers Cassie Oji and Charles Lavenac, keyboardist Richard McMaster, percussionists Oliver and Laurie Pitt, and synth player and noise maker Sam Bellacosa. They formed two years ago while attending a production course for young unemployed musicians run by Green Door Studios in Glasgow.

Robert Barry relates in The Wire 364: "When it came time for the final session of the course, Oji admits, "none of us had really organised anything", so they just crammed into the live room and went for it. When the course leaders played the recording to friends at Optimo Music, the spontaneous, slightly chaotic, genre-splicing results became the first Golden Teacher 12", Bells From The Deep End."

They've since released three 12"s on Optimo while regularly performing at parties and clubs. Party People/Love is out now.

Thanks, your music is pretty good. It impresses me a lot and I find it nice sounds. For me, the best music is the music of the author's emotions and experiences. This music provides the connection between the listener and artists - it's exactly what I looking for;)
