Listen to an outtake from Half Japanese's recent album, Overjoyed,
their first in 13 years
Reviewing Overjoyed in The Wire 367, Edwin Pouncey writes: "Among their many fans in the rock underground is John Dieterich of Deerhoof, who has produced this latest release. After such an extensive time lag, Overjoyed could be considered a reunion. But, refusing to let them return to their past, their strange creative chemistry pushes them on to produce something more urgent. As the album title suggests, Half Japanese are happy to be back in the saddle. Their sound has become more competent over the years, to the point where professional musicianship has ousted the group’s outsider rock technique."
Overjoyed is out on Joyful Noise.
