Clive Bell reviews Hackney Film Festival Vol 1 in The Wire 370: "The Hackney Film Festival is an annual showcase for audiovisual artworks emanating from within this feverishly creative East London borough. Their new label Psyché Tropes offers a triple vinyl compilation, though the vibrancy of the original video work is surely at odds with this dour sleeve, a muzzy shot of blossom in unseductive grey. Maybe they should have commissioned a sleeve from Synthetics, aka Ben Cook, who designs glam and fancy sleeves for indie labels such as Bokhari. His track “Traurige Filmmusik” is a poised, cinematic slab of techno carried aloft on Germanic chords."
