"Evening Scars" is a track from William Basinski's Shortwavemusic album that was originally issued on the Noton label in 1998 (which went on to become Raster-Noton in 1999 after merging with fellow German label Rastermusik). Shortwavemusic was recently reissued on Basinski's own 2062 label.
William Basinski's four part work Disintegration Loops has been collected together (in both LP and CD format) alongside recordings of two orchestral performances, and released as a boxset by Temporary Residence. Listen to a remastered version of dlp 1.3 here.
Follow Basinski's epiphanic journey – from playing sax on Randy & The Metrosquad's 1979 "Pass The Dust, I Think I'm Bowie", to buying a brand new pair of black patent leather six inch stilletos with the proceeds, then meeting David Bowie (and giving him a copy of Shortwavemusic) – in The Wire 344.
