Italian DJ and producer contributes to sound art series using the EMS Synthi AKS synthesizer

"It would be maybe too obvious and simple to say that the Synthi is my favourite synth among all the instruments I have,” says electronic producer and techno DJ Donato Scaramuzzi aka Donato Dozzy. “But it is in fact the only one that truly enables a genuine expression. Like if it is an extension of my body allowing me to translate thoughts and emotions into sound.”

Scaramuzzi – who also makes music as Voices From The Lake with collaborator Giuseppe Tillieci – is the fifth musician to take part in this series of releases published by One Instrument, a project started by sound artist Aimée Portioli aka Grand River. Each artist is invited to make a real-time recording with one instrument while adhering to specific guidelines.

The latest One Instrument releases are reviewed in The Wire 430. Wire subscribers can access the magazine online via the digital archive. Donato Dozzy's One Instrument Sessions is released 6 December.
