September 2016

French pianist, composer and vocalist's Le Fruit De Mes Songes is forthcoming on Bezirk

Following Delphine Dora and Sophie Cooper's collaborative project Distance Future, the French pianist, composer and vocalist's next release will be the solo album Le Fruit De Mes Songes. Connecting ancient folkoric tradition with sound art and experimental music, her lyrics often feature samples of text sourced from her library. "I like using different random sources in the same song,” explains Dora, “different fragments to have a disparate meaning, something that is mysterious to the consciousness, something that can question the listening experience. I tried to use my voice as a whisper, or many voices to induce a subliminal effect to the consciousness of the listener.

“I think my music has this element of song structures influenced by folk music,” she continues. “But for this release, I think I’ve been also influenced by avant garde, experimental, baroque and electronic music.”

Bezirk is a label co-run by Daryl Worthington (aka Beachers) and Wire contributor Tristan Bath (aka Spool’s Out/Missing Organs). Le Fruit De Mes Songes is the fourth release on the label, following Kib Elektra’s Blemishes, IXTAB’s Alea, and Schoolhouse’s Fade. It will be released on 19 September.
