Wire Mix: 20 Years Of Deathbomb Arc

Deathbomb Arc
Brian Miller celebrates 20 years of his West Coast label with an exclusive mix of hard-to-find tracks spanning the eras
Deathbomb Arc was founded by US musician Brian Miller in 1998, as a means to publish the work of the group Turbine. Over the past two decades the imprint has released the work of DIY musicians spanning rap, noise, pop, hiphop and more, welcoming artists such as Signor Benedick The Moor, Lana Del Rabies, JPEGMAFIA, and many others.
“With 20 years and over 200 releases defining Deathbomb Arc at this point, it is daunting to assemble a mix that captures our entire life,” ponders Miller. “Embracing the absurdism of condensing all these voices, and trying to represent a lot of our eras was my basic approach here; plus I dug up a handful of things nearly impossible to find these days. Included are rarities like Creepy Crawly Claw and Horse Dwarves (both pre-Eat Skull Rob Enbom projects) and a track from Julia Holter's very first ever cassette (which was curated for us by Jessica Rylan aka Can't). We also have some of our first material including Turbine (our DBA001) and Blue Sonoco, my band from back in high school before I even started Deathbomb. Our recent popular life as a hiphop label is represented with acts like clipping. and True Neutral Crew, but also our forgotten past as a hiphop label is here with Lil Pocketknife. These are all just sides of an overly complex gem though, all presenting distorted views of a centre no one will ever really know. What is next for us? Opera. Seriously.”

Comments
It's an amzing mix - have playlisted many of these artists over the years on the In Memory of John Peel Show... kills me though that these great independent labels are so invisible because of the dreaded song service platforms... even with Snipes (was it) getting famous for Lincold - no news stories feed back to source.
We are the resistance, the independent freeform radio/podcasts and magazines
