Wire Mix: Ghost Phone

November 2019

Bristol label Ghost Phone shares a new mix ahead of its second release of dancefloor reinterpretations

For label founder Sean Kelly, Ghost Phone is an attempt to bring R&B sounds into the fold of techno sets. “It's an attempt to bring these polarised worlds together,” he explains, “to retain the slickness of the original genre whilst bending things out of shape for underground parties.” The various artists producing the sample based tracks on the forthcoming Ghost Phone 002 remain anonymous, steering the project away from what Kelly calls an “image led DJ culture”.

This mix features some “forthcoming Ghost Phone tracks, some exclusive edits made just for the mix and some lesser known R&B derivatives”. Following the label's debut 12" in June, Ghost Phone 002 is released on 18 November and distributed by Honest Jon's.
