“It became a special interest of mine, collecting ambient edits and ambient rap music, finding people who were doing that,” Iceboy Violet tells Claire Biddles during their recent Invisible Jukebox interview, featured in The Wire 484. “That’s also what got me interested in working with Nueen, because I heard him do basically what I was doing, but a bit less sample-oriented, a bit more structured and deliberate maybe, or just from a different angle.”

The results of their remote yet intense collaboration – which involved swapping scores of digital files over a period of three months – are presented in You Said You​’​d Hold My Hand Through The Fire – a full length album where Nueen’s ambient productions provide a hazy framework and reactant for Iceboy Violet’s lyrical reflections on a previous longterm relationship.

Here, the duo compile tracks by some of their contemporaries for an exclusive Wire mix, featuring artists such as Florence Sinclair, Ulla & Ultrafrog and Jawnino.
