Wire mix: Metalheadz

March 2025

To celebrate 30 years of the pioneering drum ’n’ bass label, Metalheadz’s Sam Oliver, aka Friske, curates a special Wire mix

Metalheadz was founded in 1994 by Goldie and Kemistry & Storm, and became a fertile site of transformation and development for Jungle and drum ’n’ bass throughout the 1990s and beyond.

As well as providing a home for artists such as Dillinja, Photek, Doc Scott, and Goldie, Metalheadz founded the Sunday Sessions at London’s Blue Note, which became a cornerstone of underground drum ’n’ bass culture.

To celebrate its 30 year anniversary, Metalheadz is releasing ten limited lathe cut releases over the next few months, the first featuring music by Goldie, Friske and Gremlinz & Jesta, on 14 March.

The following mix of music by current Metalheadz artists is compiled by London based producer Sam Oliver, aka Friske.
