“I am always trying to make my tracks functional, danceable, make your body move,” says US artist Tatiana Triplin aka Nondi_, speaking to Neil Kulkarni in The Wire 472. “But what I realised on Flood City Trax is that I also like making music that is listening music, something that teaches, something where sure you can dance, but you can also observe. I’m fascinated by music that lets you inhabit both of those spaces.”

Nondi_’s recent Planet Mu album Flood City Trax is inspired by her hometown of Johnstown, near Pittsburg, and its history of catastrophic flooding. “This town has shaped me,” she continues. “The city itself is really important to my music. And that’s something I’ve only been realising recently. There hasn’t been a flood in like 50 years, but there’s always that feeling that the next one is going to come eventually.”

This mix features tracks by Nondi_ herself and many examples of music released by her own label HHR.
