Wire mix: Shapednoise

June 2023

To mark the release of his latest album Absurd Matter, Sicilian producer Nino Pedone aka Shapednoise records a new mix featuring DJ Rashad, Death Grips, and more

Sicilian artist Nino Pedone has been releasing records from his base in Berlin for over a decade. Spurred by early galvanising experiences of illegal raves, the artist's own productions are experiments in abstract and industrial techno, bass, noise and ambient music.

In his full page review of Shapednoise's latest album in The Wire 473, Antonio Poscic writes that Absurd Matter “is Pedone taking an inventory of his past works and recombining them in a new direction. It teeters between expressions reminiscent of experimental rap and muted, scuzzy techno explosions, revealing Pedone’s penchant for concocting cerebral compositions that nonetheless easily fit in a club context.” Pedone's new Wire mix exists in a similar realm, assembling UK rap, Ghettotech, industrial, and more.
