March 2025

The Wire Salon returns in April with the first of three events exploring the relationship of AI and music. In advance, read Emily Bick’s 2023 interview with composer patten in which he discusses using AI-generated samples to map music’s infinite complexities

The Wire Salon returns to London’s Cafe Oto in April with the first of three events looking at the impact of AI on the processes of composing and producing sound and music. The first, In Latent Space: Mapping the Uncanny Valley, takes place on 22 April and features talks and presentations by musician patten and researcher Sam Salem. Both will then be in conversation with The Wire’s Emily Bick.

In advance of the Salon, we have made Emily's interview with patten in The Wire 470 free to read in our online library, in which the musician discusses using AI-generated samples to map music’s infinite complexities.
