These short films by Spanish film maker/musician Carlos Casas, which he calls Archive Works, are studies for a larger film he is making on an elephants’ graveyard in Nepal. The films are assembled from found footage (Hollywood exotica, early ethnographic films, etc) which Casas then processes. The soundtracks are by Casas too, which he produces by processing the soundtracks of the original films. Casas, an associate of the Italian artist/musician Nico Vascellari (they co-run the Von Archive label), will present the films at the Netmage festival in Bologna, Italy between 21-23 January.
