The UK singer-songwriter and improvisor compiles solo and collaborative tracks from her discography
“It’s not just improvisation in a careless way, it’s a vocabulary that I tap into,” declares Glasgow based artist Joanne Robertson about her prolific practice as a singer, songwriter, guitarist and painter during her interview with Claire Biddles in The Wire 457. “And when I collaborate, that’s when the vocabulary expands.”
Robertson has worked with artists Dean Blunt, Mica Levi, Oliver Coates and others. Most recently she's released music with London based artist Sidsel Meineche Hansen – their collaborative concept album Alien Baby 0 Rules For Life being an exploration of a “reciprocal sense of humour around being a woman”.
Here Robertson compiles tracks from her various projects into a career-spanning playlist featuring releases on Textile, Dean Blunt's World Music and Feeding Tube. Read more about the musician's practice and art-centred approach to songwriting inside The Wire 457. Subscribers can also read the article via the digital archive.
