The Japanese vocalist shares an unreleased track remixed by composer Hiroyuki Nagashima
In 2017, with a career spanning over 30 years, Osaka born electronic producer and vocalist Phew realised a long held ambition to record an album made entirely from her voice. Voice Hardcore follows her very early releases as part of punk band Aunt Sally in the 1970s, subsequent collaborations with Ryuichi Sakamoto, Holger Czukay and Jaki Liebezeit, DAF, Boredoms, and many more solo albums after that.
This unreleased track, which shares the same title as last year's LP, has been reworked by soundtrack composer Hiroyuki Nagashima.
Phew was tested by The Wire's Invisible Jukebox in issue 411. Subscribers can access the full interview via the online archive. She will perform Voice Hardcore in Kyoto on 28 April
