Following on from the new album Season Two on The Order, Los Angeles hiphop group The Kleenrz have done an exclusive mix for us built around the tracks that inspired the new release. The duo consists of Self Jupiter of Freestyle Fellowship on vocals and Kenny Segal of TeamSupreme on beats and samples.
“With Season Two we took inspiration not just from Winston Wolf and Viktor The Cleaner, but also from cop shows and procedural crime dramas,” explains Segal. Talking of the mix, he continues. “That’s why we decided to dedicate this mix to the awesome music that can be heard in some of these shows. We threw together the tracklist through a combination of shows we grew up watching, as well as a few extras that I found along the way. It’s really a funk/jazz mix ultimately, but if you’re a hiphop producer this could be a crate digger’s dream... there are a bunch of amazing things to sample in there!”
Season Two is out now. It was reviewed in Jack Law’s hiphop column in The Wire 389. You can download the album track “Man Overboard” featuring Myka9 and Busdriver via Soundcloud.
