Listen to a recording of the Swedish producer and label boss playing live in Riga
Swedish producer and label boss Peder Mannerfelt previously worked under the alias The Subliminal Kid. He now plays solo under his own name and as part of Roll The Dice, a duo shared with Malcolm Pardon. Meanwhile his Mannerfelt Produktion label has distributed music by Klara Lewis and most recently Sissel Wincent, as well as his own recordings.
“I try to have all these undercurrents going on, and tongue in cheek is what I aspire to,” Mannerfelt says to Clive Bell in The Wire 389, talking about his latest release Controlling Bodies. “If you look at it from one way it can be really harsh, blocky and tight. But if you spin it just a few degrees it can be tongue in cheek, or a bit stupid.”
This live performance took place on 15 October 2016 at Skaņu Mežs festival in Riga, Latvia. Mannerfelt is part of the artist platform SHAPE, which has just published its third year roster. Subscribers can read Clive Bell's article via Exact Editions, along with Emily Bick's live review of Skaņu Mežs in the recent Spirits Rejoice! issue.
