Listen to Shapednoise's new album Different Selves

December 2015

Listen to a full stream of the new album from Nino Pedone aka Shapednoise’s Different Selves

Italian producer Nino Pedone’s new album as Shapednoise is a widescreen epic called Different Selves. With its cyclopean heft, it recalls the cosmic horror of Ridley Scott’s dark sci-fi works Alien and Prometheus. Guitarist Justin K Broadrick (Godflesh/Jesu/Techno Animal) guests on the immense “Enlightenment”, which gives a fair impression of the music's density.

Pedone recently joined forces with UK producers Mumdance and Logos for the cyberpunk inspired project The Sprawl, whose debut EP1 was released on 13 November by The Death Of Rave. Different Selves and EP1 are reviewed by Louis Pattison alongside Roly Porter's Third Law in The Wire 383. Louis writes, “While Mumdance and Logos have pioneered a floaty, effervescent strain of grime known as weightless, Pedone’s music is all weight. His second album Different Selves offers an acrid, disassembled take on techno that takes the distorted crunch and crumble of beats pushed into the red and makes it a signature.”

Different Selves is out now on Type.
