London imprint Otoroku shares an exclusive excerpt from a 2019 performance by Black Top, featuring Hamid Drake, Elaine Mitchener, William Parker, Orphy Robinson and Pat Thomas
Recorded live at Cafe Oto on Sunday 28 July 2019, Some Good News documents the meeting of rhythm section Hamid Drake and William Parker with London based vocalist Elaine Mitchener and Black Top co-founders pianist Pat Thomas and multi-instrumentalist Orphy Robinson.
This excerpt is taken from disc two of a double CD release of the quintet's improvised performance in its entirety, available via Cafe Oto from 28 February.
