Wire Mix: Gosheven

October 2018

Ahead of his performance at Schiev festival in Brussels, Hungarian musician Gosheven shares a new slow-paced mix

Budapest based guitarist and producer Bálint Szabó released his second album as Gosheven on the UK Teesside label Opal Tapes in April 2018. Called Bivaq, it followed the announcement that Szabó would join the roster of artists supported by Vienna's SHAPE Platform. His next live performance will take place at the new Belgian festival Schiev, featuring Golin, Nkisi, Zuli, and more.

”Gábor Gadó is one of my guitar heroes,” remarks Szabó about his mix’s playlist. “He is absolutely amazing, not only as a musician but as a person too. His descending chromatic chord progressions and the constant use of the volume pedal are the basics of his unique sound. A real living medieval monk and magician. The ending always has to be serene, so [to close] I chose the best bird song recordings I ever heard by the late Jean C Roché found in the book of David Toop's Ocean Of Sound (Björk also used samples from this record on her track The Gate from Utopia).”

Full tracklist:
