Preston Wendel and William Basinski share an ode to Los Angeles
Following their first release as Sparkle Division, collaborators William Basinski and Preston Wendel have recorded a mix inspired by their base on the West Coast. The pair first met after Basinski moved from New York to Los Angeles, where he hired Wendel as a studio assistant. The result of their collaborative work is To Feel Embraced, an album inspired by jazz and disco which features Wendel on electronics and Basinski playing saxophone, as well as a guest appearance from the late bassist Henry Grimes.
“This mix is mostly comprised of close friends and acquaintances in contemporary Los Angeles music,” say Wendel and Basinski over email, “as well as a couple of Los Angeles legends, and a couple of current artists whom we hope to become friends with soon!”
