Watch a video of Russell Haswell's collaborative performance with the Exaudi vocal ensemble, part of Aldeburgh Music Faster Than Sound series.
As part of their Faster Than Sound series of cross-artform collaborations, Aldeburgh Music commissioned musician and artist Russell Haswell to develop a work based on the 16th century Flemish composer Antoine Brumel's incomplete score, Et Ecce Terrae Motus (Earthquake Mass). Brumel, who died in 1520, wrote the piece for 12 voices, and the score only survives partially with the other copy having rotted away. For Earthquake Mass, Haswell completed the missing section, with the resulting work performed at Aldeburgh Music's Snape Maltings venue in Suffolk on 14 June 2014.
