Film makers URSSS shot their sound and body festival film in August

The Wire's Biba Kopf was in Sokołowsko, near Poland’s border with the Czech Republic, for Sanatorium Of Sound/Musica Sanae, a festival of performances inspired by the relationship between sickness and sound. Co-curated by Michał Libera with In Situ Contemporary Art Foundation’s Zuzanna Fogtt and sound artist Gerard Lebik, the event was presented at a 19th century sanatorium opened by Dr Hermann Brehmer in what was then the German Lower Silesian village of Görbersdorf.

Among those exploring sound and the body over three days in late August were Carl Michael von Hausswolff, Rudolf Eb.er, Rashad Becker, Félicia Atkinson, Luciano Chessa, Barbara Kinga Majewska & Tony Di Napoli, Thierry Madior, and others, including the subject of this video, Audrey Chen.

Biba Kopf wrote about Sokołowsko’s Sanatorium Of Sound/Musica Sanae festival in The Wire 429. Subscribers can read that on Exact Editions while everyone else can buy a copy via our online shop.

The video was made by URSSS. Check out their website for more films of artists at work.
