Watch a video portrait of the Norwegian songwriter/novelist.

Directed by IJ Biermann and shot by Kai Miedendorp in Oslo, Norway on 7 March 2011. The music is from Hval's album Viscera, out on Rune Grammofon.

According to the director Biermann, this is the first in a series of 'music video portraits' of musicians. Under the collective title Portraits, the individual videos feature a song by the respective artist, with a portrait filmed in a personal place (eg the musician's home). Biermann is also currently working on a documentary about Maja Ratkje, due out at the end of 2011.

Jenny Hval is the subject of an article by Rob Young in The Wire 326.
