‘Theremin’ is the first of five short films by Aura Satz on musical instruments which are characterised by their unusual sculptural fit in relation to their performer. Forthcoming films will explore the Stroh Violin, the Musical Saw, the Pianola and the Serpent. ‘Theremin’ features Lydia Kavina, theremin virtuosa and grandniece of Léon Theremin. Lydia also featured in Aura Satz’s ‘Glissolalia’, an installation and performance at Beaconsfield Gallery, London, in 2008.
