The experimental audiovisual duo’s new animation draws scenes from their recent graphic novel

Sculpture are London based video artist Reuben Sutherland and electronic composer Dan Hayhurst. The duo recently released Nearest Neighbour as a cassette album accompanied by a graphic novel. The project “materialises our feelings about our environment being hyper-developed by economic and algorithmic agents, stimuli overload,” says Hayhurst, “and we are trying to use that as a vehicle to travel elsewhere. We let the music stretch out and the visuals proliferate through the book.” This video includes sounds taken from the album’s “Viscous Outrun” and “Nite Flite”, along with other tracks.

Nearest Neighbour is available via Tapebox. Each download includes a high-res PDF of the graphic novel.
