The South London based songwriter shares a new video for a track taken from forthcoming EP Chuckle

“I wanted the video to have natural and survivalist elements at the core whilst feeling surreal and non linear”, says South East London guitarist and producer Leisha Thomas aka Alpha Maid, explaining the ideas behind this visual accompaniment for her new track “SUM1”. “I wrote the majority of the melody and chords in my early teens. I’ve always enjoyed how desperate it sounded… it felt important to tap back into that purity, and for the song to acknowledge itself in a way.”

“SUM1” is taken from Chuckle, which is released by label and collective CANVAS on 19 March. Read Clare Biddles' interview with label co-founders Olan Monk and Lugh O'Neill on The Wire website.

The video was directed and edited with friend and collaborator Adrian Aldihni in Sydenham Woods, December 2020.
