Mthetwa is a pioneer and proselytiser of Shangaan electro, a frenetic strand of electronic music that rarely dips below 180 beats per minute, soundtracking the street dancing of his hometown Malamulele in the South African province of Limpopo. Mthetwa toured Europe earlier this year with Shangaan electro musicians and dancers.
