The UK composer shares visuals for a track from his latest album JELLY
In The Wire 465, UK composer Andrew Poppy tells Leah Kardos about his diverse back catalogue stretching back to 1985, and his practice of exploring textures and voices. Describing his most recent works as “like being in or moving through a landscape”, Poppy also states that, “the relationship of recording to performance, and the performer to the audience” is a common thematic thread running through many of his projects.
Most often a composer of pieces for chamber ensembles, Poppy's latest album JELLY features the artist performing a set of solo works for the first time, mixing electronics with spoken monologues and experimenting with wordplay. Here Poppy shares a video for “A General Choosing”, which appears on the album as part of a longer piece.
