Watch James Hankins's film documenting the 64th and final concert of Dali de Saint Paul’s EP/64 project

In May 2022, vocalist and improvisor Dali de Saint Paul's epic concert series EP/64 came to a close, with a special two night event at Bristol's Arnolfini. Initially inspired by a dream of de Saint Paul's, in which she searched for an LP by an “ephemeral project” that had disbanded after 64 shows, EP/64 went on to span six years, culminating in 64 “wild improvisation combos with variable geometry”. The 64th show and finale featured 14 live improvised performances with artists such as Ossia, Ben Vince, Laura Phillips, Miguel Prado, Wojciech Rusin, Melanie Clifford, Triple Negative, Tom Bugs, Robin Stewart, and many more.

In the spirit of de Saint Paul's dedication to improvisation and musical freedom, director James Hankins put out an open call before the final shows, asking 64 fans to record anything they could from the performances. The result is 64, premiered here in full for the first time.

The performances from May 2022 are also available to hear on CD via TBC Editions, and several EP/64 shows from previous years can be streamed online.
