As their world tour kicks off, watch footage of the ever mutating small units involved in the Japanese collective's London performance at Cafe Oto in 2014

Back in The Wire 360, Clive Bell asked the project’s organiser and participating musician Katsuyoshi Kou to describe Multiple Tap’s set-up: “The purpose of this project is not just to hold a concert. If the artists gathered only for that, I would think it was meaningless. But in a few years’ time I want to change the world of this kind of music in Japan. This time we do a festival as one method for London. But we’re not doing this project in order to introduce these artists to the world. I would like to introduce the whole extreme music of Japan as one culture altogether... This kind of music is not understood at all in Japan, this is a big problem."

This month Multiple Tap embarks on a world tour, performing in Mexico, Germany, China, Taiwan, Belgium, Denmark and France. Full tour details here
