Watch an excerpt from a new documentary by Mika Taanila and Jussi Eerola, with a soundtrack by Pan Sonic

Return Of The Atom is a new documentary by Mika Taanila and Jussi Eerola, soundtracked by fellow Finns Pan Sonic. Shot over eight years, the film looks at the construction in Finland of the first nuclear reactor to be built in the West after the Chernobyl disaster in 1986, as well as the social dynamics of life in a small nuclear town. Starting construction in 2004, the Olkiluoto Nuclear Power Plant in the Finnish town of Eurajoki was to be finished within five years but after a series of problems with planning, safety automation and subsequently running far over budget, its completion is currently delayed.

Return Of The Atom has its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it will be screened on 11, 12 and 18 September.
