New collaboration unites the contemporary music scene of Bogotá and London's Theon Cross, Nubya Garcia and Steam Down
In September 2019 Theon Cross, Nubya Garcia and Steam Down travelled to Colombia to perform at Bogotá’s Jazz En El Parque as part of an exchange programme run by the British Council. They were partnered with players in the Bogotá new music scene – León Pardo, Diana Sanmiguel, N Hardem, Daniel Michel, Marco Fajardo, Alejandro Cifuentes, and more – secured studio time, and together developed music collective Mestizo.
The group makes their live debut at La Linea on 1 May at Electric Brixton. Other artists set to perform at the festival are Bebel Gilberto, Juana Molina, Tino Contreras, Sara Correia, Melingo, Ana Tijoux, Fernando Otero and others.
Mestizo is the British Council programme to foster music collaborations between artists and producers from the United Kingdom and Colombia. It is co-produced with La Linea, and supported by the PRS Foundation.
