US jazz musicians Jaimie Branch and Jason Nazary present a video to accompany a track from their recent release

Chicago raised, New York based trumpeter Jaimie Branch ranked highly in The Wire's top 50 releases of 2017 with her debut LP Fly Or Die. The follow-up Kudu is performed with Branch's long-time collaborator – drummer and producer Jason Nazary – and released under the band name Anteloper. The electronics-infused album features both Branch and Nazary playing synthesizers alongside their usual instruments. Writing in The Wire 412, reviewer Bill Meyer says: “When Branch blows over the bubbling synths, she is as commanding as ever, and it’s a thrill to follow her as she twists her lines in unexpected directions.”

The video for “Seclusion Self” was made by Portland based visual artist Sam Klickner.

Kudu is released by International Anthem. Subscribers can read Bill Meyer's full review via the online archive.
