Wire Mix: C-drík

September 2020

The musician and curator forges connections between experimental music scenes in Asia, Africa and the Middle East

From his base in Berlin, C-drík aka Cedrik Fermont runs Syrphe: “A platform mostly but not exclusively focused onto experimental, electronic, noise music from Asia and Africa.”

Fermont's focus on building connections with experimental musicians across continents has led to a number of expansive compilations appearing on the label. Syrphe's latest release, Retrieving Beirut, is a four part benefit compilation featuring 97 artists from over 40 countries, which Fermont managed to collate within 24 hours of sounding a callout after the recent explosion in the Lebanon capital.

This mix, recorded by C-drík in August 2020, includes artists featured in the Syrphe roster, alongside many others from across the globe. Read more about C-drík's projects in Ziad Nawfal's in-depth interview in The Wire 440.
